Community Grant Spotlight: Warm a Heart Community Outreach, Inc.
Having access to food is one thing, but having the tools to prepare it is another. Warm a Heart Community Outreach, Inc. is helping bridge that gap.
Through support from the Community Foundation DeKalb County, Warm a Heart distributed 89 cooking kits to individuals and families across the community. Each kit included essential utensils, cookware, mixing bowls, and pantry staples like rice, pasta, canned meat, spices, dry milk, and flour.
These kits are designed to meet people where they are, supporting newcomers and others in need with practical resources that can be used right away. For many, having these problems on hand removes a barrier and makes it easier to prepare meals at home.
Multiple volunteer efforts helped bring this project to life, including support from Voices of Philanthropy members, the Foundation’s youth philanthropy program. Each kit was packed with care and prepared for distribution to those who need them most.
The impact goes beyond the kits themselves. By providing the tools and ingredients needed to cook at home, this effort helps build confidence in the kitchen while supporting more consistent access to nutritious meals.
For 30 years, the Community Foundation has partnered with organizations serving DeKalb County to support projects and programs that strengthen our community.
This story is part of our 30 Years, 30 Stories series, highlighting the people, partnerships, and projects shaping DeKalb County.
