Community Foundation DeKalb County Celebrates 30th Anniversary
As we welcome 2026, we’re celebrating more than the start of a new year—we’re celebrating a milestone year for the Community Foundation DeKalb County. This year marks 30 years of serving, supporting, and strengthening DeKalb County, and we couldn’t be more grateful to the community that made it possible.
Established in 1996, the Community Foundation DeKalb County was created to promote community philanthropy and give local citizens a way to build a charitable legacy that sustains and improves life in our county. For three decades, individuals, families, and organizations have partnered with the Foundation to invest in the future of the causes they care about most.
Over the past 30 years, we have:
-
Supported local students through scholarships
-
Strengthened nonprofits through grants and training
-
Invested in the long-term well-being of DeKalb County
Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, the Foundation has helped build just over $36 million in permanent and non-permanent funds, granting more than $1 million each year to local nonprofits and community initiatives. These grants support programs, services, and opportunities that make DeKalb County a better place to live, work, and grow.
At the heart of our work is the power of endowment. When a fund is created, gifts are invested for long-term growth. Each year, part of that growth is returned to the community through grants, while another portion is reinvested to ensure those funds continue serving DeKalb County for generations to come.
This anniversary is a celebration of our donors, partners, nonprofits, volunteers, and neighbors who believe in the strength of local philanthropy. Together, we’ve made a lasting impact, and together, we’re shaping what comes next.
Stay tuned as we celebrate all year long, sharing stories from the past 30 years and highlighting ways you can get involved in shaping the next 30. Be sure to mark your calendars for our Annual Meeting on August 13—we look forward to celebrating with you.
