Tonya Weaver

The power of human connections and relationships has been a driving force throughout Tonya’s 34-year career in education. Tonya grew up in DeKalb County and after receiving her bachelor’s degree from Butler University, returned home to serve the families of the Garrett-Keyser-Butler Community School District.  Tonya completed her master’s degree in educational leadership from Indiana University Fort Wayne.  From her early days as an elementary teacher and literacy coach to her roles as a building principal and school district superintendent, she has been fortunate to witness firsthand the transformative impact of strong connections on individuals’ lives. After retirement, Tonya began working with aspiring educators at Trine University where she currently teaches in the Franks School of Education.

Tonya and her husband Doug reside in Auburn and enjoy spending time with their two daughters, Sydney and Abby.  Whether it’s cheering on her favorite athletic teams, relaxing by the pool, or exploring new adventures on a beach, she finds great joy in these simple pleasures.
