Sue Randa

Sue Randa has been a resident of DeKalb County since her early teens and is a graduate of DeKalb High School. She earned a BS in education from Ball State University and became an educator for DeKalb Central Schools, teaching fourth and fifth graders. She received an MS in education from Indiana University and was involved in a number of education organizations. Outside of education, Sue was a member of Psi Iota Xi and held multiple offices over the years.

Sue has always viewed Auburn as a forward-thinking, warm and welcoming community and has enjoyed being a part of it. Now retired, she enjoys staying involved through Community Foundation DeKalb County. Sue began her involvement with the Community Foundation by serving on the Grant Committee. She said, “It was wonderful learning more about DeKalb County through the grant requests and a blessing to be able to give a boost to organizations while assisting our community through them.” She currently serves on the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors and the Scholarship Committee.  She enjoys evaluating scholarship applications and says that interviewing Lilly scholars has shown her what wonderful young men and women the community has raised.

Sue established the Randa Community Fund to honor and remember her parents, while giving back to the county.

Sue enjoys meeting with friends and hopes to get more traveling accomplished in the upcoming years. She also enjoys quilting and, over the past few years, has taught a friend’s elementary-aged daughter how to quilt during summer break. Sue said, “I’ve had fun being able to share my craft and watch her grow her skills. I have met many talented people who have become friends through quilting.”
